An evening photograph provided the reference for this study of St Anne’s Cathedral, with its overlapping towers, layered roofs and deep Romanesque arches. I used my Sailor Ringless fountain pen with Buff Titanium and Quinacridone Sienna/ Ultramarine blue washes.
I used a lighter touch on the pen, allowing the washes to describe the stonework without relying on bold outlines. For the lesser detail, I focused on one of the towers, adding the projecting stone bands to bring a little more structure to the drawing.
