The Albert Memorial Clock offered an opportunity to explore Gothic architectural details, from the clock faces and stonework to the elaborate pinnacles and spire. I used a Sailor Ringless fountain pen with grey and ochre washes for the main study, keeping the line work relatively light.
For the lesser detail, I focused on one of the carved stone lions, using a Pelikan M600 and ochre ink. I enjoyed the more expressive approach, allowing loose lines and warm washes to capture the character of the carving rather than trying to describe every detail.
